Obama on O’Reilly

I watched Barack Obama on The O’Reilly Factor last night and based on what he said, I have serious doubts about my continuing to support him as a candidate. Obviously, Obama appeared on Fox News in order to convince the wingnuts that he just as much of a hawk as John McCain. I was very disappointed in his support of the so-called “war on terror” and the use of military action in the Middle East.

I regret giving my support to a candidate who fails to condemn the illegal, immoral, and unjust war in Iraq. He quibbles with O’Reilly over the effectiveness of the surge. He states that he will continue to waste our military resources to combat terrorism when it has been proven time and time again that police and intelligence agencies are more effective.

Obama has proven himself to be a typical pandering politician. He’ll say anything to get elected. He’ll use the scare tactics of the right to his own advantage.

So much for change. So much for hope. So much for an end to war.

Don't be too disappointed. Telling the truth about the Iraq War would absolutely doom Obama to lose. Look what telling it like it is did for Dennis Kucinich. There's a certain amount of pandering that has to be done by every Presidential candidate. Those who stick to their principles on every issue don't have a chance. Hillary Clinton took a big chance when she supported the Iraq invasion. Don't think she didn't know it was a crock of crap. She made a calculated political decision. Look how "Maverick" McCain had to dump his first choice for VP--his good buddy Joe Lieberman--to placate the fundies. Hell, I might have voted for a McCain/Lieberman ticket.

JFK had to swallow a HUGE pride turd when he took on LBJ as his VP. It was the only way he could have won. I'm not going to pay too much attention to what either candidate says between now and November. It's all just smoke and mirrors right now.

Yeah, maybe you're right.

I just don't understand why Obama is pandering to people who will never vote for him anyway.
