Why On the Fritz?

Obviously, my the title of my blog was inspired by my name. And, yes. My name really is Fritz (short for Frederick). The focus of my blog is and has always been my personal observations of modern life. This includes politics, pop culture, entertainment, and all of the other things that either make life worth living or drive us nuts.

Are you a professional blogger?

I'm not what you would call a "serious" blogger. I simply don't have the time or the stamina to write every day. What interests me most is the technology and practice of blogging. There is no doubt that blogs are the publishing phenomenon of the 21st century. Fifty years from now, school kids will be learning about blogs and the impact they had on national and world affairs.

My twin brother turned me on to blogging in 2001. At that time, not too many people were actively blogging. That soon changed after 9/11. Blogs boomed in popularity and On the Fritz was one of them. I soon learned that blogging could become a major obsession.

Many of my favorite blogs from the early days are long gone. Others have become popular enough to give bloggers fame and recognition.

Obviously, I'm not in it for the glory. I get bored easily. After a few months, I scrap my archives and start over from scratch.

This time, I'm going to combine the traditional blog with Movable Type's Professional Website template. The blog will become one part of a personal and professional Web site.

Can you be taken seriously?

I should be taken as seriously as someone you'd have a quick conversation with in a bar. I could be a little drunk, a little crazy, or both. Perhaps you'll read something here that will make a strong impact on your life. That would be great. But, that's not my objective. I'm just sharing my thoughts.
